| January 30, 2016 | 0 Comments

Winter storm Jonas canceled the original signing day of Trey Hartsock and Noah Stewart last week but with fair weather in site, the Husky seniors will sign their letters on Monday at 6 p.m. in the Mifflin County High School

Trey will be signing his letter of intent to attend Lock Haven. Noah will receive his Certificate of Appointment to West Point.

I will be there to shoot some video and post a story on the site and in Tuesday’s Lewistown Sentinel.

(Editor’s note: Once again I am battling sickness and could not make it to last night’s dual meet. Hopefully, this is the last of these nasty bugs infecting me)

Mifflin County closed out the Mid-Penn Commonwealth portion of its schedule with a 50-14 demolishing of State College Thursday night.

The Huskies (14-4, 5-2) won 10 bouts, scoring bonus points in eight of those. Mifflin County hung four falls, two technical falls, a major decision and a forfeit on the Little Lions (7-11, 3-4).

In a battle of state-ranked wrestlers, Trey Hartsock took a 7-1 decision over Cory Dreibelbis at 195.

The Husky junior high defeated Mount Nittany 59-34. Mifflin County is off until the District 6 Duals on Saturday, February 6. The Huskies take on Bellefonte in the semifinals at Tyrone High School. Action begins at 10 a.m.

District 6 Class AAA Dual Meet Brackets

| January 28, 2016 | 0 Comments

Mifflin County gets a familiar foe in Bellefonte in the semifinals of the District 6 Class AAA Dual Meet championships.

This is the fourth straight year the Huskies, seeded second in the tournament, take on the Red Raiders. Mifflin County defeated Bellefonte 36-33 last year.

One difference this season is the district is only taking the top four teams so there is no byes for the top two seeds. The top six teams qualified a year ago. In the top half of the bracket, top-seed Central Mountain faces fourth-seeded Philipsburg-Osceola.

Action takes place on Saturday, February 6, at 10 a.m.
