Mifflin County 2016-17 Schedule Released

It will soon be high school wrestling season (yay!!!) and Mifflin County athletic director Tish Maclay released the 2016-17 schedule.

The Huskies open the season at the Warwick Duals, a newcomer to the schedule, on Saturday, December 10. Also new to the schedule is the Dallastown Duals (Saturday, January 14), the West Branch Tournament (Friday-Saturday, January 27-28) and a dual meet with Saint Mary’s to close out the regular season on Thursday, February 16.

Once again the Huskies will venture to the King of the Mountain and Powerade events as well as their normal Mid-Penn Commonwealth slate. Mifflin County hosts District 6 rival Central Mountain on Wednesday, January 25 to close out the home dual meet portion of the Husky schedule.

Hidlay Named a Captain of NC State Wolfpack

Former Mifflin County state champion and true college freshman Hayden Hidlay made quite an impression already on North Carolina State coach Pat Popolizio.

The Wolfpack head coach named Hayden one of the five captains of the 2016-17 squad.

Mifflin County Duo Make Top 50 in Latest Flo Junior High Rankings

Trey Kibe and Nic Allison of Mifflin County made the list of the top 50 junior high wrestlers released by Flo Rankings on Saturday.

Kibe is ranked No. 39 and Allison is No. 41.

Carson Manville of Virginia, younger brother of Penn State bound Mason Manville, is ranked number one overall. Ryan Crookham out of Neshaminy is the highest rated Pennsylvanian on the list at No. 4.

Penn State Gets Commitments from Two Studs of 2018 Class

After being unusually quiet on the recruiting trail this year, Penn State coach Cael Sanderson made a big splash on the Class of 2018 recruiting trail.

With Joe Lee of Indiana already on board, the Nittany Lions dominated the wrestling news today when Travis Wittlake of Oregon and Roman Bravo-Young of Arizona, committed to wrestle for Penn State.

That gives Sanderson three top 10 commits from the 2018 class – Wittlake (No. 4), Bravo-Young (No. 5) and Lee (No. 10).

Wittlake is a 2x state champion, a cadet national champion and a bronze medalist at the Cadet Worlds. Wittlake is projected to wrestle at 174/184 in college.

Bravo-Young is a two-time state champ, a two-time cadet national titlist and a NHSCA champion. Bravo-Young will wrestle 125/133 at Penn State.

Lee is a state champ will projects at 141/149 at the next level. He will join his brother Nick, who is a 2017 recruit for Penn State.

New Rankings From Flo and TOM After Super 32

With the wrap-up of Super 32, Flo Wrestling and The Open Mat released new high school rankings and Mifflin County’s Trent Hidlay is in the top 10 in both.

The Husky junior, who placed third at Super 32, is ranked No. 9 in Flo and No. 10 in TOM at 160 pounds. Hidlay is second among PA wrestlers in Flo behind Eric Hong (No. 5) of Kiski Prep. Hong (No. 5) and Travis Stefanik (No. 8) of Nazareth are in front of Hidlay in the Open Mat rankings.

Brady Berge of Minnesota is tops in both rankings at 160.
