Siglerville Places Two at PJW Elementary States

Two Siglerville wrestlers placed at the PJW 2017 Elementary states over the weekend in Wilkes-Barre.

Andrew Alexander placed sixth at 14 pounds as a seven-year-old in the 8-under division and Peyton Kearns finished seventh at 150 pounds as a 9-year-old in the 10-under age group.

Siglerville Mat Club Advances Five to PJW States

The Siglerville Mat Club advanced five wrestlers out of  the Area 2 regionals this past weekend and into the PJW Elementary states.

Peyton Kearns took first place at 150 pounds in the 10-under division and Anson Wagner claimed top honors at 115 pounds in the 12-under class. Wagner, making his third trip to states, won 17-2 in the regional finals.

Claiming second place honors were Andrew Alexander (45 pounds, 8-under), Deakon Sheaffer (75 pounds, 12-under) and Hunter Johnson (70 pounds, 12-under).

The PJW States are at the Scranton –Wilkes Barre Mohican Sun Arena March 24-25. Flo Wrestling will also be covering the event.

Trey Kibe Wins PJW Junior High State Title; Nic Allison Third

Mifflin County’s Trey Kibe brought home the gold medal at the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Junior High State Championships over the weekend.

Kibe, wrestling at 132 pounds, went 5-0 on the day and didn’t surrender a point on his way to the title. This is Kibe’s second PJW championship. He won in the 9-10 age group at 85 pounds back in 2013.

The eighth grader started off his tournament with a fall in 55 seconds over Jack Pletcher of Greater Latrobe. He followed that up with a 3-0 win over Gage Musser of Commodore Perry, a 10-0 major over Nick Feldman of Solanco in the quarterfinals, and a 4-0 shutout of Nathan Higley of Sullivan County in the semis.

In the finals, Kibe defeated Dimitri Jandrasics of Easton by a 4-0 score.

At 77 pounds, Nic Allison went 6-1 to grab third-place honors for Mifflin County. Allison defeated Eligh Rivera of Pocono Mountain East by a 6-5 decision for third. Allison’s lone loss came in the quarterfinals where he dropped a 4-2 decision to Connor Brown of Littlestown.

Jacob Krepps (187), Rylan Bailey (187) and Blaine Davis (212) competed at the event for Mifflin County but failed to place.
