Mifflin County capitalized on six falls to open up a 39-6 lead and then hung on for the 42-29 victory over Bellefonte in the semifinals of the District 6 Class AAA Dual Meet championships on Saturday.

With the win, the Huskies (17-4) advanced to the finals for the third consecutive season and the opponent is a very familiar one – the Central Mountain Wildcats.

The Wildcats (12-0) defeated Philipsburg-Osceola, 41-27, to reach the finals. It will mark the seventh straight year Central Mountain will wrestle for the District 6 crown.

Hayden Hidlay (28-2) started things off at 145 with a fall in 1:09 over Nate Rosenberger. A takedown and half nelson proved to be the difference.

Noah Stewart (27-6) continued the pinfest with a 2:51 deck job of Tanner Day at 152. Stewart got the opening takedown and picked up six back points before finishing off Day.

Brandon Wilson, making his first appearance in the lineup after rehabbing a knee injury, started strong but hit a brick wall later in the match in holding off Austin Cable for an 11-10 decision.

Wilson had a takedown in the first and a reversal early in the second to take a 4-0 lead. An escape by Cable and another takedown from Wilson made it 6-2 halfway through the middle period.

From there, things got very interesting.

Cable escaped and picked up two takedowns to two Wilson escapes as the period ended with Wilson up 8-6. Cable escaped and took Wilson down to start the third. The Husky sophomore evened it up at 9-9 with an escape. A stall call on Wilson made it 10-9 in favor of Cable, but with seven seconds left in the match, Wilson scored on a single leg to get the win.

Mifflin County reeled of four straight first-period falls for the 39-6 lead. At 182, Trey Hartsock pinned Brien McChesney in 46 seconds, Timmy Pearce finished Toby Cain in 1:29 at 195, Kyle Kahley flattened Ben Putnam in 1:32 at 220, and Colton Craig took care of Tim Benford in 1:29 at 285.

The Red Raiders (10-4) won five consecutive matches to make it close at 39-29, but Isaac Underhill closed things out for the Huskies with a 2-0 victory over Zach Musser at 138.
