An already stellar recruiting class just got better for Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson.

PIAA state champ Garrett Hammond (Chambersburg) gave a verbal to the Nittany Lions recently. Hammond sports a career mark of 116-24, and is a two-time state finalist, capturing the title last season at 145.

Hammond, a Super 32 runner up this year, placed seventh in the National Prep Championships as a freshman at Wyoming Seminary.

He is projected at 157/165 in college.

Hammond is the third top 100 recruit to commit to Penn State, joining Benton’s Zain Retherford (141),  and Kiski Area’s Matt McCutcheon (184). The Nittany Lions also have a verbal from PIAA runner up Cody Law (165) of Forest Hills.
