Ultimate Warrior Tournament – Hidlay Captures Title and 100 Career Wins; Six Others Place

Trent Hidlay remained unbeaten on the season by winning the 170-pound title at the Ultimate Warrior Tournament on Saturday.

In the process, the Husky junior reached 100 career wins by going 4-0 at the event. His career record now stands at 100-14. Hidlay (27-0) pinned his way through the tournament to reach the finals where he dominated eighth ranked Brinton Simington of Altoona by a 22-7 technical fall in 5:40. The win was Hidlay’s second over Simington this season.

Trent is the 21st county wrestler in history to reach 100 wins and just the fifth in Mifflin County Huskies history to hit the milestone joining Isaac Underhill, Hayden Hidlay, Noah Stewart and Trey Hartsock. Tyson Searer reached 100 wins in a Husky uniform but spent most of his career at Lewistown.

Six other Husky grapplers made the medal stand with Noah Myers placing third at 126; Christian Fisher (106), Joey Taptich (113) and Austin Haubrick (182) finishing fourth; Scout Kyper took fifth at 195, and Logan Wise placed seventh at 132.

Mifflin County finished fifth in the team race with 135.5 points. Altoona won the team crown with 185.5 points, followed by Shippensburg, Wilson Area and Bald Eagle Area.

The tourney records for Mifflin County wrestlers are as follows: Hidlay (4-0), Myers (4-1), Wise (5-2), Taptich (4-2), Kyper (4-2), Fisher (3-2), Haubrick (3-3), John Retherford (3-2), Derek Burk (2-2), Hunter Wagner (1-2), Brian Smink (0-2), Kaden Knouse (0-2), and Drayson Sullivan (0-2).

Mifflin County is off until February 16 when it closes out the season on the road against Saint Marys.
