Hidlay in KOM Finals; Stewart, Hartsock and Pearce Are Placewinners

Hayden Hidlay is back in the finalsĀ  for the second consecutive year while Noah Stewart, Trey Hartsock and Timmy Pearce earned places at the King of the Mountain tournament Saturday morning.

Hidlay (8-0) got to the finals by handing Joey Alessandro of Hempfield Area a 6-2 defeat. Hidlay, the top seed in his weight class, will take on sixth seed Mikey Labriola of Bethlehem Catholic in the finals this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Noah Stewart fell in his bid to reach the 152-pound finals, dropping a 11-3 major decision to Steve Edwards of Burrell in the semifinals. Stewart, now 9-1 on the season, will face Jeff Reimel of North Penn. The winner will wrestle for third, the loser for fifth.

Trey Hartsock (182) and Timmy Pearce (220) are wrestling for seventh place after going 1-1 this morning in the consolations.

Hartsock defeated Camden Brown (South Western) by a 17-1 tech fall before losing 9-2 to Alex Price of North Penn. Hartsock will face Jack McGillick of Penn Trafford for seventh.

Pearce, the surprise of the season so far for the Huskies, pinned Ben Bish of Erie McDowell in 50 seconds before being pinned by Stroudsburg’s Kevin Hughes in 4:08. Pearce will take on Central Mountain’s Cameron Porter for seventh.
