Hidlay Ranked in Top 25 of Latest InterMat Class Rankings

Mifflin County’s Trent Hidlay made the top 25 in the Class of 2018 by InterMat in its recently released rankings.

The junior-to-be is rated No. 24 overall and is the fourth best recruit from Pennsylvania, according to the InterMat website. Hidlay, fresh off a 68-11 spring and summer campaign, is behind Gavin Teasdale (No. 3), Michael Beard (No. 7) and Sammy Sasso (No. 9) in the Keystone State. Teasdale, an Iowa recruit, is from Jefferson-Morgan, Beard wrestles at Malvern Prep and Sasso at Nazareth.

Hidlay finished second in the state at 160 as a sophomore and projects to be at 160-170 for the upcoming high school season.

Gable Steveson of Minnesota is the top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2018. David Carr of Ohio, son of three-time NCAA champion Nate Carr, is number two. Teasdale, Seth Nevills (California) and Travis Wittlake (Oregon) round out the top five. Nevills’ older brothers – Nick and A.J. – compete for Penn State.

Wittlake is the number one ranked 160-pounder in the Class of ’18 with Hidlay at No. 2.
