Hidlay Moves Up in Latest InterMat Class of 2018 Rankings

Trent Hidlay moved up eight spots to No. 23 in the InterMat Class of 2018 Top 50 rankings. The soon-to be-junior is fresh off a runner-up finish at the PIAA championships and a successful off-season.

Hidlay is fourth among Keystone State wrestlers behind Jefferson-Morgan’s Gavin Teasdale (No. 3), Michael Beard of Malvern Prep (No. 5), and Nazareth’s Sammy Sasso (No. 6).

Below are the Top 10 in the Class of 2018:

1. Gable Steveson (Apple Valley, Minn.)
2. David Carr (Massillon Perry, Ohio)
3. Gavin Teasdale (Jefferson Morgan, Pa.)
4. Seth Nevills (Clovis, Calif.)
5. Michael Beard (Malvern Prep, Pa.)
6. Sammy Sasso (Nazareth, Pa.)
7. Roman Bravo-Young (Sunnyside, Ariz.)
8. Travis Wittlake (Marshfield, Ore.)
9. Joe Lee (Evansville Mater Dei, Ind.)
10. Frankie Gissendanner (Penfield, N.Y.)

(Teasdale committed to Iowa and Lee to Penn State)

    that’s great! I believe he will move up the list quickly and become the first (2 time) state champion from Mifflin County!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      I know he can do it but he isn’t the first. Joe Heller won two state titles for Chief Logan (1978-79). Trent would be the first in Mifflin County high school to win two.

    thanks for the correction brian, I meant Mifflin county high school! I was around in 1978 and 1979 and do remember joes great victories for the mingo’s!!!
