Husky Duals Preview and Poll

Six state ranked wrestlers, including a 2012 PIAA state champion, will headline the Husky Duals on Saturday at the Mifflin County High School gym.

The wrestling begins at 9:30 am with six teams squaring off in a round-robin format. There will be team trophies awarded to the top three teams with tie-breakers determined by head-to-head, most points earned and most individual wins.

Mifflin County, Conestoga Valley, Pen Argyl, Penn Manor, Souderton and Wellsboro will battle for the crown with each team wrestling five matches.

The Huskies will wrestle Wellsboro in round one, Souderton in round two, Pen Argyl in round three, Conestoga Valley in round four and Penn Manor in round five.

PIAA 138-pound state champ Mikey Racciato leads the way for Pen Argyl. Racciato, who will wrestle for Pitt next season, is 21-0 and ranked No. 1 at 145-AA. Teammates Matt Williams (15-4) and Brady Mutton (16-4) will be counted on to score big points as well. Williams is sixth at 120 and Mutton No. 10 at 285.

Conestoga Valley (9-2) has quality in freshman Lucas Ortiz (18-1), ranked No. 16 at 132, and Nate Musser (16-4), ranked No. 12 at 138. Also contributing this season are regional qualifiers Jeff Kramer (16-5) at 160, and Joe Bragg (9-2) at 285. Freshman Jose Morales is 17-4 at 106.

The final ranked wrestler at the event will be Kolton Veit of Souderton (2-10). The junior state qualifier is 20-0 on the season and ranked No. 8 at 120.

Penn Manor (7-6) brings regional qualifiers Mac Evarts (12-5) at 182 and Matt Schneider (13-8) at 126, while Wellsboro (0-6) features Chad Daugherty (11-1) at 182 and Brandon Owlett (12-2) at 145.

Mifflin County, Conestoga Valley and Pen Argyl should battle for the team title.
