Matt Snyder Rolls to Semifinals at Southern Scuffle

Former Lewistown standout and Virginia senior Matt Snyder advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga on Tuesday.

Snyder, seeded third at 125, opened the tournament with a 17-0 technical fall over Army’s Hunter Wood. He followed that up with a 1:01 fall over Ares Caprio of Arizona State to reach the quarterfinals.

In the quarters, Snyder pinned Old Dominion’s Jerome Robinson in 3:44 to reach the semifinals, where he will take on Air Force’s Josh Martinez, who scored a surprising 13-9 OT victory over second-seeded David Thorn of Minnesota.

Snyder is ranked No. 8 in the country by Intermat.

The semifinals get under way at 11 am today.
