Mifflin County vs. Altoona Preview

Mifflin County enters the new year in good shape with a 5-1 record and hosting Altoona tonight in the first of back-to-back home meets for the Huskies.

Mifflin County owns victories over Strath Haven (68-12), Manheim Township (58-10), Mount Union (38-30), Carlisle (39-35), and State College (46-29) with the lone loss coming to Chambersburg (34-33). The Huskies finished sixth at the King of the Mountain tournament and just returned from a 13th-place finish at Powerade.

The Huskies boast three ranked wrestlers – Trent Hidlay (No. 1 at 182), Christian Fisher (No. 3 at 113) and Trey Kibe (No. 18 at 152). Hidlay (16-0) won his second Powerade crown, while Kibe (15-4) placed fourth and Fisher (14-4) took sixth. Other wrestlers with winning marks include Logan Wise (10-5 at 132), John Retherford (8-6) at 138, and Kross Todaro (10-6 at 220).

Altoona comes in 0-1, losing to Williamsport 40-36. The Mountain Lions competed in the EAIWT tournament,  the Sheetz Holiday Classic, and the Panther Holiday Classic.

Leading the way for Altoona are Matt Sarbo (No. 13 at 113), Parker McClellan (No. 6 at 195), Nate Simmers (No. 16 at heavyweight), and Haden Boutiller (11-4 at 152).

In what could be the match of the evening Fisher could meet Sarbo, the talented freshman with a 10-2 record, in a battle of ranked wrestlers.
