Mifflin County vs. Harrisburg Preview

Mifflin County rolls into its home opener tonight against Harrisburg fresh off a 47-13 shellacking of Shikellamy on Tuesday.

The Huskies won 10 of 14 bouts against the Braves, collecting bonus points in eight of those. Mifflin County also owns wins over Daniel Boone (51-30), Columbia (66-16), Ephrata (57-22), Hempfield (35-33) and CD East (43-33). The lone loss came at the hands of Downingtown East (46-20) at the Ephrata Duals.

Leading the way for the Huskies are Noah Myers (8-2 at 113), Hayden Hidlay (10-0 at 138), Isaac Underhill (6-3 at 145), Noah Stewart (11-2 at 152), Trey Hartsock (9-4) at 182 and Timmy Pearce (9-3 at 195/220).

Hidlay (5th), Underhill (11th) and  Stewart (21st) are state ranked.

The Cougars come into the Mid-Penn Commonwealth match with a 0-1 mark losing to Central Dauphin 68-11 while forfeiting six weights.  The Cougars also competed in the Travis Manion tournament.

Andrew Brown (4-1 at 285) is ranked 20th in the state, while Christian Gayle (3-2 at 160) and Shawn Proctor (3-3 at 182) were regional qualifiers a year ago.

Action gets underway earlier than usual with a 6:30 pm start. The varsity and junior high will wrestle at the same time.
