Mifflin County vs. Harrisburg Preview

The Mifflin County wrestling team is on the road this week with a Mid-Penn Commonwealth dual meet tonight against Harrisburg, and then it’s off to York County for the Dallastown Duals on Saturday.

The Huskies (6-2, 2-2) venture into Cougar territory after dropping a tough 35-26 match to Central Dauphin last Thursday. Mifflin County dropped winnable matches at 106, 126 and heavyweight in the loss to the Rams.

Mifflin County owns victories over Strath Haven (68-12), Manheim Township (58-10), Mount Union (38-30), Carlisle (39-35), State College (46-29), and Altoona (48-17) with its other loss coming to Chambersburg (34-33). The Huskies finished sixth at the King of the Mountain tournament and  13th at Powerade.

The Huskies boast three ranked wrestlers – Trent Hidlay (No. 1 at 182), Christian Fisher (No. 3 at 113) and Trey Kibe (No. 11 at 152). Hidlay (18-0) owns a 56-match winning streak, while Kibe (17-4)  and Fisher (15-4) have been consistent all season long. Other wrestlers with winning marks include Logan Wise (11-6 at 132), John Retherford (9-7) at 138, Jacob Krepps (8-7 at 182/195) and Kross Todaro (12-6 at 220). Todaro, in particular, has been on a roll, defeating two ranked wrestlers last week.

Harrisburg is 2-5 on the season and  0-4 in the Commonwealth. The Cougars have wins over  Conestoga Valley (39-32) and York Suburban (46-28). The losses are to Big Spring (45-31), Central Dauphin (66-12), Cumberland Valley (54-25), Carlisle (22-10), and Chambersburg (55-15).

Junior Nehemiah Diggs is the lone ranked wrestler for Harrisburg. Diggs (5-1) is ranked seventh in the state at 170 pounds. Other Cougars with winning marks are Isaiah Sawyers (5-2 at 160), and Jeffre Chisholm Wilkerson (7-1 at 285).
