The Mifflin County wrestling team, fresh off a 59-15 pounding of Altoona, gets its first taste of a back-to-back on the schedule when the Huskies travel to State College tonight for a 7 pm Mid-Penn Commonwealth dual.

The Little Lions sport a 5-5 mark on the season, holding victories over Hollidaysburg (42-33), Southern Huntingdon (53-15), James Buchanan (48-31), Fairfield (63-12) and Shikellamy (45-34). State College is on a three-match win streak.

Losses have come at the hands of Jersey Shore (51-19), Carlisle (47-30), Central Dauphin (56-18), Chambersburg (40-18) and Bermudian Springs (37-25). The Little Lions are 0-3 in the Mid-Penn.

Former state qualifier Mike Kauffman leads the way for State College. The senior is 9-0 on the year and ranked 13th in the state at 138 pounds – setting up a possible showdown with Mifflin County’s Hayden Hidlay in the feature match of the evening. Hidlay is ranked fifth in the state and is 17-2 on the season.

The strength of the Little Lions is in the light weights with Kauffman, junior Kyle Catral (7-3 at 113), senior Daniel Sills (9-1 at 120) and sophomore Anthony Myers (8-2 at 126). Sophomore Will Roeshot (9-1) at 152 and senior Derek Horner (6-2) at 160, have been solid as well.

In addition to Altoona, Mifflin County has victories over Daniel Boone (51-30), Columbia (66-16), Ephrata (57-22), Hempfield (35-33), CD East (43-33), Shikellamy (47-13) and Harrisburg (65-9). Cumberland Valley (46-13) and  Downingtown East (46-20), both state ranked teams, defeated the Huskies.
