PIAA Brackets: Hidlay Gets Familiar Face; Kahley Meets State Champ

Hayden Hidlay will get a familiar face and Kyle Kahley has a monumental task facing him in the opening round of the PIAA Class AAA State Championships which begin on Thursday.

Hidlay (27-5) will meet Central Dauphin’s Austin Camacci (32-9) in the first round of states. Hidlay faced Camacci in the dual meet back in January and came away with a 6-4 victory.

Camacci placed second in the South Central Regional, losing to Chambersburg’s Tanner Shoap. Hidlay lost to Erie Prep’s Jake Gromacki by an 8-3 score in the Northwest Regional finals on Saturday.

Kahley (27-12) ran into some hard luck by drawing two-time state champ Thomas Haines of Solanco in the opening round. Haines is 34-1 on the season, his only loss coming to Kyle Snyder of Good Council Maryland at the Powerade Tournament. Haines, just a junior, has already committed to wrestle for Penn State.

AAA action kicks off Thursday at 4 pm.
