Searer Earns Starting Spot for East Stroudsburg

True freshman Tyson Searer,  a two-time PIAA state placewinner, claimed the starting spot at 197 pounds for East Stroudsburg by beating fifth-year senior Joe Blaes in wrestle-offs.

Searer finished seventh in the state as a junior for Lewistown and took third last year for Mifflin County, becoming the first state placewinner in Husky history.

The Warriors open the season  Saturday hosting the 46th annual ESU Open.

UPDATE: Searer, wrestling unattached, went 2-2 at the East Stroudsburg Open on November 17th.

He defeated Joseph Richard 9-4 in the first round, but lost to Penn State redshirt and eventaul champion Morgan Mcintosh 12-4 in the quarterfinals. In the consolations, Searer pinned T.J. Neidhart (Sacred Heart) in 4;30, before falling to Vinny Campanile (Kutztown) by a 4-2 decision in sudden  victory.

Next up for the Warriors is a dual meet with American on Friday, November 30.
