Snyder Moves Up to No. 7 in Latest Intermat Rankings

Former Lewistown standout Matt Snyder has moved up to the seventh spot at 125 in the latest Intermat rankings.

The Virginia senior is 8-3 on the season and coming off a second-place finish at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Two of Snyder’s losses are to Matt McDonough of Iowa and Nico Megaludis of Penn State, the top two wrestlers in the weight class. McDonough beat him 11-4, while Megaludis posted an 8-4 decision over Snyder in the Scuffle finals.

Snyder’s other loss came at the hands of Virginia Tech’s Jarrod Garnett, the fourth-ranked wrestler at 125.

Penn State maintained its position as the top team in the nation after winning its third straight Scuffle title. Oklahoma State, Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio State round out the top five.

The Nittany Lions have eight of their ten wrestlers ranked, led by top-ranked Ed Ruth at 184.

Megaludis and David Taylor (165) are ranked second at their respective weights, while Andrew Alton (149), Matt Brown (174), and Quentin Wright (197) are third. Dylan Alton is fifth at 157 and Jimmy Lawson is 16th at heavyweight.
