Snyder Ranked Eighth; PSU Tops in Latest Intermat Poll

Former Lewistown standout Matt Snyder is currently ranked eighth in the country at 125 pounds in the latest Intermat rankings.

TheĀ  University of Virginia senior is 4-2 on the season with two falls. Iowa’s Mike McDonough, who defeated Snyder this year by a 9-4 margin, is top-ranked and the returning NCAA champion.

Penn State is a clear No. 1 in the team rankings with eight grapplers setting in the top 20.

Defending NCAA champion Ed Ruth leads the way for the Nittany Lions with a No. 1 ranking at 184. Nico Megaludis (125) and returning NCAA champ David Taylor (165) are ranked second; Matt Brown (174) and Quentin Wright (197) are ranked third; Dylan Alton is fifth at 157, while twin brother Andrew Alton is sixth at 149.

Rounding out the Penn State contingent is Bryan Pearsall, who’s ranked 19th at 141 pounds.

The Nittany Lions return to action Sunday, December 2, when they host the Penn State Open.
