Noticeable by their absence are the Alton twins – Andrew and Dylan. The 21-year-old twins from Central Mountain High School, were cited in Lock Haven on Dec. 21 for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and harassment.

Fifteen wrestlers can compete and score for a team. Wrestlers redshirting also can compete so it’s likely that four-time PIAA champ Jimmy Gulibon (133) will compete as well as Zack Beitz (141) of Juniata.

Penn State ran away with last year’s Southern Scuffle Championship. In the first year of the event being hosted in Chattanooga, Penn State claimed the title with 191.5 points, far ahead of second place Minnesota’s 177.5. Two years ago, Penn State and Cornell tied for the crown. Last year, the Nittany Lions had four champions as Frank Molinaro won at 149, David Taylor at 165, Ed Ruth at 174 and Quentin Wright at 184.

Former Lewistown wrestler Matt Snyder is seeded third at 125 for Virginia.
