Three MC Wrestlers Advance to PJW States

At the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Area 2 tournament held at Philipsburg-Osceola HS on Sunday three Mifflin County wrestlers advanced to the PJW State Championships on March 1 and 2 at Hempfield High School in Greensburg.

At 132, Jonah Kile lost by fall in 3:56 in the finals to Ian Barr of State College, but bounced back to claim a 9-7 decision over Levi Hobson of Chestnut Ridge to earn true second place and advance to Hempfield.

At 140, Trent Hidlay won by tech fall, 18-3 in 2:57 over Parker McClellan of Altoona in the semifinals, and won a 6-3 decision over Tanner Weaver of Central Mountain for the championship.

At 187, Isaac Maclay dominated the bracket with two falls leading up to a 16-0 tech fall win over Vincent Fernandez in the finals to advance to the state tournament.

Clayton Wolfgang (77), John Retherford (87), Logan Wise (124), all placed fourth while Scout Kyper (167) went 1-2 for the day.
